Thanks for the Lift

So often I'm in need of a thank you card. Lately, I've had some dear friends share their appreciation of me for being there for them in need. This has inspired me to create the next theme for my card called "Thanks for the Lift". I've submitted this greeting card to FreshlyMadeSketches which meets Sketch#FMS122. I like the simple lines of this sketch and had so many thoughts running through my mind. I though this might be easily duplicated by you at home.

To recreate this card is very simple. You will need a the following directions though...
  1. A full White Daisy Cardstock measuring at 12" x 12" for the entire card in order to cut the following pieces.
  • First cut the overlay found on Page 41 in your Artbooking Cricut Cartridge manual, by selecting Overlay key, then shift, "$". I used one of my scraps so I believe I cut this piece at 2".
  • You'll need to create a card base measuring at 4.25" x 5.5" folded.
  • A piece for behind the overlay measuring at 2 2/16". You may cut 2.25" and cut around the edges if you are unsure about the measurements.
  • Cut two more pieces measuring at 3" x 2" for the stamping the cloud background and for the air balloon.
  • A small piece is needed for the banner with the sentiment. A scrap of white measuring at 1.5" x 3" will be sufficient.
     2.  Lifting Spirits Stamps C1570, used here was featured in the Holiday Guide 2013, you may use the newest stamp Give a Lift, D1581 as a great option. Don't forget the Acrylic Block 2"x3.5".

     3. Whisper Cardstock measuring at 4" x 5.25".

     4. Stamp the air balloon in Whisper Ink as a background onto the Whisper Cardstock.

     5. Using the same balloon image stamp the air balloon in black ink onto White Daisy cardstock.

     6. With the black ink stamp a banner onto your small White Daisy cardstock. The sentiment was stamped in Lagoon Ink. Now hand cut your banner with its sentiment.

     7. Next, stamp the two cloud images in either Sky or Juniper ink onto a White Daisy cardstock.

     8. You'll need a piece of Sky cardstock to mat the sky image you've just stamp. The mat should measure at 2.25" x 3.25". Adhere the stamped cloud background onto the Sky cardstock .

     9. It's time to color in your air balloon. I used alcohol markers but water color pencils will do nicely. Once colored hand cut your air balloon and adhere to the white cardstock with the cloud background.

    10. It's time to put all your pieces together.
  • Adhere your Whisper cardstock mat with the air balloon image stamped as a background onto the  White Daisycardstock.
  • Using a fine tip adhesive pen adhere the overlay onto the  White Daisy cardstock and then adhere both pieces on top of the Whisper cardstock about .75" from the bottom.
  • The Sky cardstock mat with the cloud background should be placed about .25" from the left and 1" from the bottom of the card.
  • You may how adhere the air balloon by tilting it slightly to the left and the sentiment across the bottom of the sky mat using 3D Foam tape.

Until the next time... Happy Crafting!

Valentine's Day Card Challenge

I've got Valentine's Day on my mind lately and thought that my next greeting card should match my thoughts. Here's a greeting card that I've created to meet two blog challenges

FreshlyMadeSketches  FMS121 Sketch challenge

Cuttin'andStamping Color Challenge Pink, Orange, and Grey

Heart2HeartChallenge  A Challenge about Love using CTMH products

I had real fun playing with my Cricut Artbooking Cartridge to cut out my picture frame and couple. The picture frame is found on page 41 and the couple is on page 58. The larger heart can be found in one of the stamp set from the Cricut Art Philosophy collection. The smaller heart and sentiment are from Whooo's Your Valentine stamp set. The paper is from Dream Pop. For a finishing touch I used small sparkle flourish, bling sparkle, and Paradise Baker's Twine. To add dimension I used foam squares of course. I used a couple of inks including Ruby stamp pad and Hollyhock pigment ink pad.

Challenge Entry

As part of my New Year's resolution is to participate in the online community more through card or scrapbooking challenges at least once a month. Below I've created a card that meets two challenges

MOJO MONDAY- Sketch Mojo238

HEART2HEARTCHALLENGES-Create something that uses the letters CTMH.
C= Cardstock, Chipboard, Chevron washi tape
T=Texture, Textile-Sparkle & Shine
M=Milepost Chipboard, Mojo Monday sketch, Metallic cardstock
H=Hearts, Hot Air Balloon

I think I've also read another challenge that I believe was on Splitcoaststampers where you try to combine patterns but having trouble finding it again. Combine two patterns for easy and five for difficulty. In this card, I've meet the difficulty level. Look closely there are in fact 5 patterns. The one that's least obvious is the Silver Geometric washi tape (Z1932) below the textile.

Most of the supplies used are from Close to My Heart:

I'm going to try to carve out some time this week to create a scrapbooking layout. But this week may become distracting it's my birthday week!

PS. Just got my order with new paper packets from the new Idea Book that will launch on February 1st. Can't wait to show you.

Heart to Heart Challenge

I wanted to join a few blog challenges to keep me motivated to create and it's always fun to just challenge myself. So for the Heart to Heart blog Challenge, I was to create something using 5 papers. So I'm including the below items in submission to this challenge.

Gift bag was created using retired paper packet called Dotty for You. Cardstock was stamped and layered.

I've created this card using Chantilly and Artbooking Cricut Cartridge. Here, I layered cardstock and patterned paper.

You may be familiar with this greeting card. I've layered Ruby cardstock with three Huntingdon Papers, Olive Green Cardstock, Colonial Cardstock and don' forget the Red Shimmer Trim and Harvest Baker's Twine. I used the Cricut Art Philosophy to create the ornament.

This greeting card was created using Frosted Card Workshop on the Go paper and stamp, Whisper cardstock, Slate Polka Dot Washi and Single Snowflake stamp set. I think I layered 5 papers here.

Halloween Layout using Artbooking

I'm currently on vacation in Maine but I couldn't stay away from the blog for too long. I brought along on my trip my Cricut Expression, Artbooking cartridge, stamps, inks, and cardstock. Well there was one rainy day that allowed me some time to create. I thought it would be fun to create a Halloween scrapbook layout. I think it's been a while since I last created one.

I used the For Always Paper Packet, Sunset cardstock, Smokey Plum cardstock, White Daisy cardstock, Black cardstock, scrap of Crème Brulee cardstock, Black glitter paper, Natural Baker's Twine, and of course Artbooking Cricut cartridge.

The Haunted House, picture mats, moon, bats, and lattice work were cut using the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge. To recreate these items I will refer to the Artbooking booklet/manual.
  • The Haunted House is on page 71, select: Border, Shift, and V. Cut item at 10" on Black cardstock.
  • Framed mats can also be found on Page 71, select: Photo Mat 2 and V, cut frames at 7".
  • The Latice work was cut to Fit Page, image found on page 71. The Latice work can be recreated by selecting the "Overlay" function, Shift, then V.  I did trim a portion of it to fit this layout.
  • Needs some bats. They can also be found on page 71, I cut various of them by selecting "Icon", "Shift" and then "V".
  • The title Spooky, is also an Artbooking perk. It can be found on page 70, cut to size 7" in black glittery paper. To recreate select "Title", "Shift", and "C".

Again using the Artbooking cartridge I cut most of these pieces found on page 70 in the manual.

  • To create the title select: "Title", "Shift", and "C". I cut the title out of Smokey Plum cardstock at 7 inches.
  • Spider web corner were cut by selecting "Overlay", "Shift" and "C" cut at 7 inches as well.
  • Now we can't forget our spiders. Select "Border", "Shift", and "C", cut one spider at 5" and the second at 3". Using Natural Baker's Twine I just used a glue dot from the spider web to the spider to create a string.
  • Web Frames are just so neat. I left corners unglued so that I can just slide a picture in there. They were cut at 7" and 6" by selecting "Photo Mat 1", and "V." This image is found on page 70.
  • The only thing that needs to be added are pictures and a journal that fits perfectly on the bottom left corner.

I hope you enjoyed this layout as much as I had fun creating it. I didn't give paper dimensions because I would love to see what you create using the Halloween paper cut outs using the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge and your scraps just like I did.
